Jennifer Hutchinson is the new principal of Lexington's Picadome Elementary School. Hutchinson, 34, the curriculum coach at Picadome for the past three years, succeeds Darla Simms, who recently retired as principal.
A 12-year veteran in education, Hutchinson was a special education teacher at Harrison Elementary School before moving to Picadome. She is a graduate of the University of Kentucky where she completed bachelor's and master's degrees, and obtained her principal's certification.
"I feel humbled and honored to remain a part of the Picadome family," she said. "Our students are 21st century learners, and we have to be able to challenge them at high levels and provide an engaging learning environment."
Hutchinson and her husband, Josh Hutchinson, have three daughters.
