Students unhurt in three-vehicle crash involving Fayette County school bus

A three-vehicle crash involving a school bus sent one person to the hospital and disrupted traffic Wednesday morning.

No students were hurt. The bus was carrying students to Meadowthorpe Elementary, Fayette County Schools spokeswoman Lisa Deffendall said.

The wreck happened about 7:30 a.m. on Manchester Street near Driscoll Street. The bus had stopped at a railroad crossing, Lexington police spokeswoman Sherelle Roberts said.

A car had stopped behind the bus. Another car rear-ended the stopped car, causing it to crash into the bus, Roberts said.

The driver of the stopped car was taken to the hospital with injuries that were not thought to be life-threatening.
