Dennis Davis has been named as the new superintendent of the Mercer County Public Schools.
Davis had been interim superintendent since July 1, 2011. He was named Tuesday night during a special meeting of the Mercer County Board of Education.
Davis began his career as a teacher in Bourbon County. Later he became an assistant principal at Mercer County High School, principal at the Mercer County Ninth Grade Academy, and then interim superintendent.
He will officially begin as superintendent on July 1.
