A Superintendent Screening Committee will be formed to help the Fayette County school board select a new leader for the district.
Under state law, the committee must include one parent, who will be elected by the presidents of the PTA or parent organization at all of the district schools.
The responsibilities of the committee include screening applicants, adhering to the school board's directions regarding the security of applicant files and confidentiality of applicant information, and reporting its recommendations to the board on the date and in the manner outlined by the board, according to an email district officials sent to parents Monday.
Although only PTA presidents may vote, all parents and guardians of students enrolled in the district are eligible to serve on the committee. People can volunteer or submit a nomination for someone else. They can submit a nomination at www.fcps.net/vote.
All nominations must be received by 5 p.m. on Nov. 24. Hard-copy nominations should be mailed to 16th District PTA, 1126 Russell Cave Road, Lexington, KY 40505.
