The Fayette County school board voted Tuesday to enter into a $20,000 contract with McNamara Search Associates of Lexington to vet 30 superintendent candidates.
A few weeks ago, school board members voted to terminate a contract with Illinois-based Proact Search after concerns were raised about Proact's CEO. About 30 candidates had applied to Proact before the board decided to terminate that contract.
The school board hopes to find a replacement by July for Tom Shelton, who resigned in December. Marlene Helm is serving in the interim.
