Kentucky Personnel Secretary Tim Longmeyer leaving post at end of September

FRANKFORT — State Personnel Secretary Tim Longmeyer will step down from the post at the end of the month to return to law practice in Louisville, Gov. Steve Beshear said Friday.

Longmeyer has been the cabinet's secretary since January 2011. Prior to that, he was its deputy secretary.

Beshear has named the cabinet's general counsel, Dinah Bevington, to be acting secretary. She has served in the Personnel Cabinet's legal office since 2007, and has been the general counsel since October 2008. She previously worked in private legal practice in Lexington.

Beshear's term as governor ends in December.
