State races take shape

FRANKFORT - While most of the recent political jockeying has been over next year's contest for governor, the races for the other statewide positions on the 2007 ballot are beginning to take shape.

Some of those races might prove to be nearly as exciting as the one for governor.

Two Democratic incumbents -- Attorney General Greg Stumbo and Auditor Crit Luallen --haven't decided yet to seek another term, prompting a host of names to line up.

And it's possible the race for the vacant state treasurer post could end up a rematch of the contentious 2002 Lexington mayor's race.
