FRANKFORT — U.S. Sen.-elect Rand Paul of Bowling Green is writing a book titled The Tea Party Goes to Washington.
The book will be about Paul's plan and the Tea Party's platform "to bring the U.S. government more in line with the Constitution and the Bill of Rights, to stop spending money the country doesn't have, to stop borrowing, to balance the budget and reduce the size of the government," said a release Monday from its New York publisher, Center Street.
Paul, a Republican and a favorite of the Tea Party movement, defeated Democratic state Attorney General Jack Conway earlier this month to replace retiring GOP U.S. Sen. Jim Bunning of Northern Kentucky.
Paul could not be immediately reached for comment about the book. His campaign manager, Jesse Benton, said in an e-mail, "Stay tuned for more, it is sure to be exciting."

Laura Mullen, publicity manager for Center Street, said Center Street does not release details about contracts with authors but she did say Paul will be making "select appearances" to promote the book after its publication. She did not say where. She also could not answer whether Paul will have a ghost writer to assist him on the book.
Center Street, a division of Hachette Book Group in New York City, said the book is scheduled for publication in February. Paul, the son of Republican U.S. Rep. Ron Paul of Texas, takes office in January.
Center Street's news release called Paul an "ambassador of the Tea Party movement."
"If the recent mid-term elections were a declaration of the war on the status quo, Rand Paul leads the battle charge," it said.
Paul's election victory also is a victory for the Tea Party, the release said. "In his new book, Rand will literally take the Tea Party to Washington," it said.
"Senator Rand Paul is an exciting new force for change in Washington," said Rolf Zettersten, senior vice president and publisher for Center Street, in a statement.
"We are excited to publish this blueprint for fresh ideas and approaches to fix what ails our nation."
