Kentucky's delegation to the Democratic National Convention cast a unanimous 73 votes to make Barack Obama the party's nominee for president — however they did so without the involvement of one delegate. Last week, 94th District state Rep. Leslie Combs made clear in a letter to Obama that, without dialogue with his administration on coal issues, she would cast an "uncommitted" vote as a delegate at the Democratic National Convention. However, Combs said that, on Wednesday, she gave up her delegate's credentials to allow Gov. Steve Beshear to have a unanimous vote for the president when it came time to announce the state's votes.
