FRANKFORT — Gov. Steve Beshear signed two key pension reform bills Thursday and an omnibus alcohol bill that includes a provision allowing people to buy alcohol on Election Day.
Beshear signed House Bill 440, which includes approximately $100 million in new tax revenue that is supposed to go to the ailing pension system. He also signed Senate Bill 2, which includes moving new state employees to a new cash-hybrid 401(k)-type plan and improves oversight of the state pension system.
Beshear also signed Senate Bill 13, which includes several alcohol-related measures. In addition to Election Day alcohol sales, the bill included several tweaks to the state's alcohol laws to make them more streamlined.
