Centre College is inviting Kentucky's gubernatorial candidates to debate there at 6 p.m. Oct. 6.
The hour-long debate would be sponsored by AARP, and Scott Reynolds, news anchor for WAVE 3 TV in Louisville, would act as moderator, the college said in a news release Wednesday. Attorney General Jack Conway, a Democrat, would debate either Matt Bevin or Agriculture Commissioner James Comer, pending the outcome on the Republican side.
Centre hopes to add to its history of hosting debates; the lineup includes vice presidential candidates Joseph Lieberman and Dick Cheney in 2000; Gov. Ernie Fletcher and Steve Beshear in 2007; and Vice President Joe Biden and Congressman Paul Ryan sparred in 2012.
