Fourth candidate in mayor's race

Skip Horine, a businessman who ran unsuccessfully for mayor of Lexington in 1993, is trying again.

Horine, 42, said he filed because "I think I can take care of a lot of the problems we have better than the current candidates."

In the 1993 race, Horine finished last in a three-way primary that saw incumbent Pam Miller grab 80 percent of the vote.

He also ran unsuccessfully for an Urban County Council seat in 1996.

In an interview Thursday, Horine said that while the mayoral race is non-partisan, he is a Republican and his opponents are Democrats.

He described himself as "a Ronald Reagan Republican, minus the religious right."
