An endowment fund established in Pat Smith's memory has raised $100,000, said Steve Combs, his son-in-law. Donation boxes shaped like Habitat houses are in Kroger stores and banks for another few weeks.
Habitat for Humanity International will match the amount raised by the endowment, up to $1 million, said Smith's daughter, Jennifer Combs.
Money will be used to build one Habitat house in Lexington and to send two people on international builds each year.
