Crash of Flight 5191

Survivor’s surgery goes as planned

James Polehinke, 44, the co-pilot and sole survivor in the Comair Flight 5191 crash, underwent surgery yesterday to stabilize a spinal fracture, said University of Kentucky Chandler Hospital officials.

Trauma surgeon Dr. Andrew Bernard said in a news release that the procedure went as planned. Polehinke was in serious condition yesterday.

His left leg was amputated earlier this month.
