Dan Mallory operated Meadow Haven Farm in Bourbon County and was a regular consignor to the Fasig-Tipton and Keeneland sales.
His wife, Edith Mallory, said yesterday he was traveling to Texas for the Fasig -Tipton yearling sale that will be held today and Tuesday.
Mallory served as president of the Kentucky Farm Managers’ Club in 1989 and bred several stakes winners alone and in partnership, including graded winners American Spirit and Traces of Gold.
Mallory, 55, had four biological children and three stepchildren. One of his adult daughters saw the accident reported on television yesterday and telephoned his wife, Edith.
Mallory’s wife said she had received little information.
“I called the number for families and they told me he was on the passenger list,” said Edith Mallory. “But that’s all I know. I haven’t left the house all day. I felt like I needed to stay here.”
