A juvenile who was trying to hide a pistol during a traffic stop in Jessamine County early Wednesday accidentally shot his friend, according to the Jessamine County Sheriff’s Office.
The 17-year-old was in a 2007 Chevy with three adult friends when deputies pulled over the vehicle on U.S. 68 near Brannon Road, according to the sheriff’s office.
The juvenile tried to hide the gun and it went off, striking one of the adults in the arm, Chief Deputy Allen Peel said. The wounded man was taken to University of Kentucky Chandler Hospital with injuries that weren’t life-threatening..
The 17-year-old was charged with first-degree possession of a firearm by a minor, according to the sheriff’s office. Because of his age, his name will not be released.
