Corbin man charged with kidnapping, threatening to kill infant

A Corbin man was arrested Tuesday on charges that he assaulted his girlfriend and kidnapped her baby.

According to the Laurel County Sheriff’s Office, Charles Shores, 21, ran from a house off Hawk Creek Road into the woods with his girlfriend’s 7-month-old baby and threatened to kill it.

The sheriff’s office also said the girlfriendhad allegedly been choked and struck in the face by Shores.

Officers found Shores in the woods in only his boxer shorts. Neighbors found the baby in a nearby ditch.

Shores was charged with kidnapping of a minor, wanton endangerment, assault and resisting arrest. He also had three outstanding arrest warrants out of Whitley County.
