Two Fayette County residents were killed when their vehicle was struck by a train Wednesday night in Clark County, according to media reports.
The crash happened just before 10 p.m. at the railroad crossing on Two Mile Road and McCullough Lane near Winchester, where a car with 31-year-old Zachary Davis Winings and a 35-year-old Heather Michelle Shannon got stuck on the tracks, according to WKYT.
Winings is thought to have gotten out of the car to help save Shannon when the train hit the vehicle, the coroner told WKYT. Winings died at the scene and Shannon was transported to Clark Regional Medical Center, where she later died.
