The wreckage of a four-seater plane traveling to Kentucky was found Thursday afternoon in West Virginia.
Bill and Pat Searcy of Carterville, Ill., were killed in the crash, the Civil Air Patrol told WDTV. Carterville is near Carbondale in southern Illinois, not far from Paducah.
The aircraft departed Tuesday from Georgetown, Del., for Fleming-Mason Airport in Flemingsburg, and its last known position was 23 miles northwest of Clarksburg, W.Va., according to the Federal Aviation Administration. The Searcys were reportedly on vacation.
Officials were notified Wednesday morning that the Cirrus SR20 was missing, and FAA officials and local authorities spent two days searching various West Virginia counties for the aircraft, according to WDTV. It was found about 3:30 p.m. Thursday in a mountainous area with no survivors.
