About 500 people are without power in Estill and Powell counties after a car hit a pole Saturday evening.
The crash happened around 5:30 p.m. on Highway 52 in Irvine, according to Jackson Energy Cooperative's Facebook page. Jackson Energy said a car hit a Kentucky Utilities transmission pole that feeds into the Millers Creek substation.
Affected areas include Millers Creek, Cobhill, Patsey, Fitchburg, Pilot and Furnace, according to WKYT, the Herald-Leader's reporting partner. Jackson Energy said it would be several hours before power would be restored.
It was not immediately available if anyone was hurt during the crash.

Estill County residents without power and need help with shelter are asked to call Estill County Emergency Management at 606-723-2201.
