An Owensboro police officer shot at a suspect on Thursday when he reportedly tried to run her over with a van, according to Kentucky State Police.
Officer Jennifer Haynes, 31, had attempted to stop a vehicle suspected to be connected to crimes around Owensboro and the Reo, Ind., Thursday morning when the driver tried to flee, according to state police. The driver then crashed into a Jeep Cherokee on Old Henderson Road.
Haynes got out of her cruiser to follow the suspect, identified later as Edward A. Warriner, 46, as he ran behind an ACME Heating and Air building, according to state police.
Warriner is accused of then getting into an ACME van and driving it at Haynes as he tried to escape. Police say Haynes fired twice at Warriner. The van did not stop, but Haynes was able to get out of the way.
