A 72-year-old woman and her two great-grandchildren died in a crash Friday in Laurel County.
The crash occurred at 7:24 a.m. on the Hal Rogers Parkway at the junction of Ky. 1535, about 3 miles west of London, when a car turned into the path of a truck.
Gloria Faye Engle, 72, of London was driving the car and died along with her 8-year-old great-granddaughter and her 14-year-old great-grandson, according to the Laurel County Sheriff’s Department. All three occupants were trapped in the vehicle.
Investigators say the bright, potentially blinding morning sun was a possible contributing factor to the crash, the sheriff said.
