Stephen Foster statue stood for 118 years. Racial complaints just sent it on its way.

The saga of composer Stephen Foster, creator of Kentucky's state song, "My Old Kentucky Home," added another chapter Thursday related to America's slave era.

A 118-year-old statue of Foster, honoring him and another creation of his, “Oh! Susanna,” was removed from a Pittsburgh park Thursday after criticism that the work is demeaning because it includes a slave sitting at his feet, plucking a banjo.
