A winter storm is working across parts of the bluegrass state, bringing freezing rain, sleet and heavy snow, WKYT chief meteorologist Chris Bailey said. The majority of this action is across the southern half of the state, with southeastern Kentucky being especially hard hit.
Areas seeing more freezing rain will get much less snow. But the snow that does fall is likely to be heavy and wet, possibly causing tree and power issues.
Most of the heavier snow fell further south and east, across North Carolina and Virginia. Blue Grass Airport reported at least five flights to Charlotte, N.C. had been canceled.
