A man’s body was found inside a house following a Saturday morning fire, a Boyle County deputy coroner said.

Justin Baker Young, 62, of Danville was found in a bedroom of the house, said Deputy Coroner Mike Wilder. An autopsy is scheduled Sunday at the state medical examiner’s office in Frankfort.

“The autopsy will tell us if he had smoke in his lungs or if he had a heart attack or whatever the case may be,” Wilder said. “We don’t know that until we get the results back.”

The fire happened at a house in the 1100 block of Perryville Road on Danville’s west side, across from the campus of Sunrise Children’s Services, a residential treatment facility for boys, said Mike McCurdy, battalion chief for the Danville Fire Department.

Danville firefighters received a call shortly after 8 a.m. Upon arrival, flames and smoke were coming from at least two windows at the back of the house, McCurdy said.

After knocking down the blaze, firefighters found the body inside.

The fire appears to have started in the kitchen. Investigators with the state fire marshal’s office went to the scene, and McCurdy said the fire is “still under investigation as far as a definite cause.”

Perryville Road was closed to traffic for about three hours, McCurdy estimated. No firefighters were injured in their attack of the blaze.
