Two people, including a Kentucky State Police officer, were injured in a crash on Ky. Highway 3041 in Corbin Wednesday.

Officer Wendell Hunter was attempting to a turn from the shoulder to execute a traffic stop near the entrance of Phillips Tree Service on the Corbin Bypass when he collided with a 2001 Honda Odyssey van around 3 p.m., according to a release from KSP. Police said the van was speeding.

Hunter and the van’s driver, Amanda Smith-Ball, 27, of Annville, were taken to Baptist Health in Corbin, where they were treated and released with minor injuries. Both vehicles sustained severe damage and were towed from the scene, police said.

Drugs and alcohol are not suspected as a factor in the crash.
