Car driver killed in wreck involving Harlan County school bus

One person was killed early Friday in a wreck involving a Harlan County school bus, according to a news release from Kentucky State Police.

Bridgette Mallory, 32, of Lynch died in the wreck.

Three people on the bus were treated for injuries, but were not badly hurt. They were the driver, 76-year-old Eugene Stagnolia of Cumberland; teacher’s aide Wanda Tinsley, 54, of Lynch; and a student.

State police did not release the name or age of the student.

The wreck happened just after 7 a.m. on U.S. 119 in the Blair community.

State police said Mallory, who was driving north in a 2007 Honda Accord, crossed into the southbound lane and collided head-on with the bus.

Mallory was pronounced dead at the scene.
