Repair work on Kennedy Mill Bridge between Mercer and Garrard counties will begin Feb. 22, the state Transportation Cabinet said Friday.
The bridge that spans Herrington Lake has been closed since Sept. 3 because of deterioration of its steel supports. Intech Contracting LLC was awarded the contract for the repair project.
The bridge will remain closed to traffic until the work is finished. The anticipated completion date for the repairs is April 1.
The Kennedy Mill Bridge was built in 1924. It is 804 feet long and carries two lanes of traffic. Average daily traffic was measured at 1,438 vehicles per day in 2012.
