Man dies in collision with salt truck in Whitley County

A man died after his vehicle was hit by a salt truck in Whitley County on Thursday morning.

Billy R. Stevens, 59, of Williamsburg, was driving a 2001 Oldsmobile Alero east on Ky. 92 when a westbound salt truck crossed the center line and hit Stevens’ vehicle head-on at about 11:30 a.m., according to state police.

Stevens, who was not wearing a seat belt, died at the scene.

His two passengers, Jesse E. Gabbard, 29, and Selena M. Moore, 28, both of Williamsburg, were taken to Baptist Health Corbin.

The driver of the salt truck, Tommy Manes, 63, of Siler, was not injured.
