A Garrard County Middle School student was suspended after she “pricked” the neck of another student with part of a razor blade, the sheriff said Tuesday.
Local media reported Monday that the female student was sitting on the gym floor talking to a friend when another girl held the razor to her neck.
Garrard County Sheriff Tim Davis said his office was investigating and had not determined if charges would be filed against the girl wielding the razor. The school removed and suspended the student Monday, Davis said.
Davis said the student made a “little prick” in the victim’s neck.
Garrard County Schools Superintendent Paul Mullins said he couldn’t provide details. Mullins felt “120 percent comfortable” saying it appears to have been an isolated case. He said the school dealt with the matter immediately.
“We expect our students to come to school and feel safe,” he said.
