A 17-year-old girl was killed Monday night when a four-wheeler crashed in Laurel County, according to the Laurel County Sheriff’s Office.

The girl was a passenger on the vehicle when it went over a 15-foot embankment, struck a tree and overturned into a creek. Her name has not been released.

The crash occurred when the driver, also 17, was unable to make a curve on Old Whitley Road, according to the sheriff’s office. He was examined for injuries. Both of the teenagers were from the community of Lily.
