Collision in Hardin County kills two

An early morning car crash on Saturday killed two people in Hardin County, Kentucky State Police said.

At about 7:30 a.m., Billy D. Williams, 25, of Louisville was driving his Chevy Malibu eastbound on Ky. 84 near Sonora. He had three passengers, Patrick Gatson, 28, Betty Gatson, 51, and Dashana Mainor, 21 all of Louisville. At the same time, Kenneth S. Pritchard, 74 of Horse Cave was driving a truck and trailer on U.S. 31W near Ky. 84. Police said that for unknown reasons, Williams pulled into the path of Pritchard’s truck, causing the truck to hit the passenger side of Williams’ car.

Betty Gatson and Mainor were both pronounced dead at the scene by the Hardin County Coroner’s office. Williams and Patrick Gatson were airlifted to the University of Louisville Hospital with serious injuries. Pritchard was taken to Hardin Memorial Hospital with minor injuries.

The accident remains under investigation by the Kentucky State Police.
