Sebree girl, 16, killed in tumbling one-car crash

A teenager was killed and another injured in an early morning accident Sunday, Kentucky State Police said.

The collision occurred just after 2 a.m. on Ky. 492 outside of Morganfield. Police said Maxwell McMain, 19, of Morganfield was driving a Dodge Durango and lost control of the vehicle, which overturned several times.

McMain and one of his passengers, Kaci Wood, 16, of Sebree, were not wearing seat belts and were thrown from the SUV, police said. Wood was pronounced dead at Union County Hospital. McMain is at Deaconess Hospital in Evansville, Ind. and listed in stable condition.

Jacob Hood, 20, of Morganfield, was also in the vehicle but was not injured, police said. He was wearing his seat belt.

State police are investigating if excessive speed or alcohol were factors in the crash.
