National Weather Service: two tornadoes touched down in Kentucky Monday

After analyzing damage from Monday’s storms, the National Weather Service confirmed Tuesday that two tornadoes touched down in Kentucky.

A tornado with 90 mph winds moved vehicles and uprooted trees just before 6 p.m. Monday in Brohead in Rockcastle County, according to the National Weather Service. The tornado touched down near Hacker Lane before traveling 0.17 miles along the back of several homes.

No injuries were reported in the Brodhead storm.

A tornado with winds reaching 120 mph caused extensive damage to a Walmart and overturned shipping containers and cars just before 5 p.m. in Louisa in Lawrence County, according to the National Weather Service. Five people in the Walmart sustained minor injuries in the storm.
