A pedestrian died Thursday night after he was struck by a vehicle in Junction City, Boyle County Coroner Don Hamner said.
John Knight, 19, of Junction City was struck as he was trying to cross U.S. 127, according to the Facebook page of the Boyle County Sheriff’s Office. Knight was taken to Ephraim McDowell Regional Medical Center in Danville for treatment but he died there, Hamner said.
The sheriff’s office said Knight was among three pedestrians attempting to cross U.S. 127 near the Shelby Street intersection when he was hit by a southbound Chevrolet Malibu driven by Phyllis Baldock, 68, of Liberty.
Witnesses gave different statements and deputies were unable to determine who failed to yield the right of way. The intersection is poorly lit, the sheriff’s office said.
