Reports of someone in Lancaster trying to solicit money for fallen officers might indicate a scam, police said.
Police were contacted Tuesday night by someone who received one of the calls and thought it might be a scam.
“If people believe this is not legitimate and they are being pressured by this organization, there is no shame in hanging up,” Police Chief Rodney Kidd said.
Lancaster police haven’t authorized or been approached by an organization seeking to solicit money for fallen officers, Kidd said.
