A man accused of shooting at Laurel County sheriff’s deputies Thursday night has been charged with attempted murder of a police officer.
Terry Collier, 45, of Lily is accused of using a handgun to fire two rounds at two deputies, according to the sheriff’s office.
Deputies were called about 10:30 p.m. Thursday a man threatening to kill himself and anyone who tried to stop him, according to the sheriff’s office. After firing at the officers, deputies said, Collier put the gun down, but when they tried to arrest them, he fought them.
Before his arrest, he had sent a message to someone saying he was “going out in a blaze of glory,” according to the sheriff’s office.
Collier also was charged with wanton endangerment, resisting arrest and fleeing or evading police, according to the sheriff’s office. He was being held in the Laurel County jail.
