A man who was injured after being hit by a car earlier in Laurel County this month died of his injuries early Thursday.
Clerndon Smith, 55, of London, died at 1 a.m., according to the Laurel County sheriff’s office. On the night of Aug. 3, Smith was hit by a black Chevrolet Blazer on U.S. 25 near American Greeting Card Road, the sheriff’s office said.
The Blazer’s driver, Emitt Gibson, 59, of Lily, was driving east on American Greeting Card Road when he stopped to turn left onto U.S. 25. Smith tried to walk across U.S. 25 from American Greeting Card Road at the same time, the sheriff’s office said. Smith was thrown onto the roof of Gibson’s car.
