A Clay County man has been charged with murder in the deaths of his father and stepmother, who were found with gunshot wounds in December.
Gregory L. Jackson, 35, of Manchester, was arrested Thursday afternoon, according to the Kentucky State Police.
Leon Jackson, 64, and his wife, Shirley F. Jackson, 65, were found dead Dec. 9 in the yard at a home on Burchell Road.
The couple’s bodies were found after their pastor, who had not seen them in a while, went to the home to check on them. He contacted sheriff’s deputies after seeing Leon Jackson lying in the yard.
Gregory Jackson is charged with two counts of murder, first-degree burglary, tampering with physical evidence, theft by unlawful taking of a firearm and being a persistent felony offender.
He is being held in the Clay County Detention Center. According to the jail website, he has been held since Dec. 10 on other charges, including identity theft, possession of a firearm by a convicted felon and violating parole.
