A man wanted in a robbery Monday morning in Cynthiana was located Monday afternoon in a Lexington motel. Cynthiana police had a warrant for Jeffrey Pratt, 30, of Harrison County, for first-degree robbery, said Cynthiana police officer Scott Loechel.
Kentucky State Police and Lexington police arrested Pratt Monday afternoon. Pratt had escaped from custody in Robertson County on July 22, state police said.
Police received an alarm at 10:04 a.m. that a man went to the Farmers National Bank at 369 Oddville Ave., jumped over the bank counter and emptied two drawers. The man jumped back and told the tellers not to move and threatened to use a gun, but the man never displayed a gun, Loechel said.
Loechel arrived at the scene at 10:06 a.m. and by then, the man fled on foot with an undisclosed amount of cash.
The description of the robbery and the suspect shared similarities to a robbery at the same bank recently, and other recent robberies in banks in Falmouth and Harrison County, Loechel said. Police are investigating if Pratt is connected to the previous Farmers National Bank robbery.
State police said Pratt will be charged with second-degree escape in addition to previous robbery charges in Harrison and Robertson counties.
