A married couple riding on a motorcycle were killed Sunday night in Carter County, according to the Kentucky State Police.
A little before 6 p.m. Mark Stone, and wife, Teresa Stone, of Ashland, were riding eastbound on Ky. 773 when driver Mark Stone lost control on a curve and laid down the motorcycle, according to a state police press release.
A westbound vehicle struck the cycle, according to the press release.
Mark Stone was pronounced dead at the scene. Teresa Stone was taken by helicopter to Cabell Huntington (W.Va.) Hospital, where she died.
The Carter County coroner said it was unclear if the injuries they died of were received during the cycle's crash or when the vehicle struck the cycle.
Both the Stones were wearing helmets. Alcohol is not suspected as a factor in the accident.
