Grand jury to get toddler death case Monday

LONDON — A Laurel County grand jury will consider Monday whether to indict a woman whose 21/2-year-old grandson was found dead Friday in a locked vehicle, London police said.

Linda Long of Corbin was charged with reckless homicide, said London Police Lt. Stewart Walker. Officials at the Laurel County jail said Long has been released.

Long, who works at St. Joseph Hospital in London, had left Madison Nose inside a Suzuki SUV in a parking lot near the hospital. The child was left in the back seat of the vehicle all day. Temperatures were in the low 80s Friday in London.

Laurel County Coroner Douglas Bowling said Nose died of hyperthermia.

Reckless homicide is a class B felony punishable by 10 to 20 years in prison.
