A Harrison County teenager died and three others were injured Monday afternoon in a one-car accident that authorities attribute to a slick roadway.
Kayla Poteet, 17, died in the crash on Ky. 36, about three miles west of Cynthiana, Harrison County Sheriff Bruce Hampton said.

Kayla was a front-seat passenger in a 1997 Toyota Camry driven by Phillip Sexton, 17. Apparently the car ran off the right side of the roadway as it was rounding a curve, the driver overcorrected and the vehicle slid off the road and hit a tree, the sheriff said.
Sexton, and back seat passengers Sierra Courtney, 15, and Brandie Poteet, 15, who is the sister of the girl who died, were taken to hospitals. Hampton said he thought none of them had life threatening injuries.
Hampton said Kayla was wearing a seat belt, and it appeared that the others had been wearing their seat belts when the accident occurred just before 4:30 p.m.
He said that the road was extremely slick, and it was raining at the time of the accident.
