Lexington robbery suspect charged with Trimble man's slaying

A Trimble County man is charged with the murder of his roommate, whose body was dumped in a ravine.

Clester E. "Cletus" Mullins is accused of killing Steve "Catfish" Jones during a fight late at night on Dec. 6 at their trailer on Coopers Bottom Road outside the community of Milton.

Mullins also will face charges for an unrelated case in which he allegedly carjacked a Lexington cab driver in December, according to state police.

Jones was considered missing for several weeks, but on Thursday, Mullins took state police Detective Todd Harwood to the body, according to the press release.

Mullins is charged with murder and evidence tampering.

Jones, 56, was from Florida and was working in the area, according to the press release.

Mullins also is expected to be charged with an armed robbery of a taxi driver that occurred Dec. 28 in Lexington, police said. The two cases are not related.

In that case, a man was picked up at a Hamburg gas station and driven out Paris Pike. He reached around to the front and held a knife to the throat of the cab driver and demanded the American Cab Co. taxi. The driver jumped out and was unhurt.

The vehicle was found abandoned the next day in Frankfort.

Mullins was being held at the Carroll County Detention center in Carrollton.
