Virginia teen dies after Pike crash

A Virginia teenager died Tuesday as a result of injuries he received in a crash Monday in Pike County, Kentucky State Police said.

Brandon Ryan Hurley, 17, of Hurley, Va., was a passenger in a 1991 Chevrolet driven by Justin Hurley that was eastbound on Ky. 1056 at McCarr. Justin Hurley lost control of the car on a wet road, state police said, and struck a tree.

Justin Hurley was treated at Williamson Appalachian Regional Healthcare Hospital and discharged. Brandon Hurley died at Cabell Huntington Hospital in Huntington, W.Va., state police said.

State police said Justin and Brandon's relationship was unclear, though they are not thought to be brothers.
