PIKEVILLE — The state has granted two Pike County schools an exemption from finishing state standardized tests, Superintendent Roger Wagner said.
Also, the district's school board agreed Tuesday night to ask the state for a disaster exemption from finishing 13 days of classes left in the year for Johns Creek Elementary and Belfry Middle schools, Wagner said. He said he expects that request to be approved.
Other schools in the district will be expected to make up days and finish tests, Wagner said.
The Johns Creek and Belfry schools were heavily damaged in flash flooding when the region received up to 6 inches of rain May 8 and 9. The schools serve nearly 1,400 students.
