A lock broke early Sunday on the Ohio River near Warsaw, northeast of Louisville, according to the Army Corps of Engineers.
No one was hurt, but river traffic was stopped in both directions for part of the the day, said Corps spokesman Todd Hornback.
Hornback said the Corps hoped to have the lock repaired as quickly as possible. In the meantime, a smaller auxiliary lock was in use as of Sunday night.
"It's a longer process ... but we do have the Ohio River open again," he said.
