Police say 'forced entry' may have led to Christmas shooting in Adair

No charges have been filed in the Christmas shooting death of a Russell Springs man.

Kentucky State Trooper William Gregory said the agency is investigating the shooting of Bobby Brunch, 35, as a case of forced entry.

Police say they received a 9-1-1 call Friday that Brunch was trying to force his way into the home of Michael Compton on Cane Valley Road near the Adair-Taylor county line.

Brunch later was found shot to death inside Compton's home. Preliminary autopsy results indicate that Brunch died of a single gunshot wound to the chest, Gregory said.

He said the case will be presented to the Adair County grand jury after the first of the year.
