A Mercer County man died after a fire destroyed his home Monday night.
Roscoe Brown, 67, was well-liked by his neighbors on Short Road in Salvisa. Many of them stayed outside until they received word Brown's body had been found, said deputy sheriff Scott Elder.
An autopsy showed Brown died from smoke inhalation, Elder said.
The cause of the blaze remains under investigation, but no foul play is suspected, according to Elder. Several propane and kerosene heaters were found in the debris, he said.
