Man accused of brandishing handgun at KSU

A man walked through the student center at Kentucky State University brandishing a handgun Tuesday afternoon but was arrested soon after without incident, police said.

Frankfort police received a call at 4:22 p.m. about a man who "was apparently irate and belligerent and was walking through the place with a handgun pointing it at people," said Major Fred Deaton.

Christopher L. Sims, 23, of Louisville, was in a computer room when Frankfort police arrived on the scene at 4:23 p.m. He surrendered immediately, Deaton said.

Sims was charged with unlawful possession of a firearm on school property, carrying a concealed weapon and disorderly conduct. Deaton said the investigation is continuing and more charges are possible.
